Compressor Sounds Rough on Victory Freezer

Model# VSF-2

Technician Notes:

I found the unit operating but the compressor sounds rough like it has internal damage. I did not feel any heat coming off the condenser unit and the u-bends felt slightly warm. Connected my  stubby gauges to the system and found the suction pressure was really low at approximately 6 psig. I decided to add refrigerant to further diagnose the system. I found the suction pressure struggling to increase passed the 6-8 psig range and the head pressure rising past 200 psig. Based on these pressures I determined that the capillary tubes were restricted. I also found oil on the side of the compressor rotor lock, which indicated that it was most likely leaking from this area. The area around rotor lock and compressor was pretty rusted and would most likely be a problem if I tried to remove it or tighten. Spoke with the client and explained that the compressor most likely suffer some internal damage due to overheating. I provide a quote for the replacement of the compressor and capillary tubes. I further explained that although the compressor was running, it would most likely fail.  After approval, recovered refrigerant, removed compressor, the capillary tubes and liquid line dryer. Installed the new capillary tubes from evaporator down to condenser liquid line. Installed new compressor with rotor lock along with liquid filter drier. Pressured the system with 80 psig of nitrogen to leak check all joints. System was tight and no leaks found after holding pressure for 20 minutes. Removed the nitrogen and pulled a long vacuum. Reconnected all electrical connections and installed new compressor starting components. Removed vacuum pump and weighed in R404A per manufacturer tag. Started the system and tested operation. Suction pressure was 30 psig with a condenser pressure of 265 psig.  Unit dropping temperature and evaporator fans operational. Once unit reached 30*F I tested the defrost which all checked out normal. Adjusted defrost timer and allowed unit to operate normally. Left temperature control set to 0*F. No other problems found. Box temperature was 12*F before job completion . Recommended that box run over night before placing any product into the unit.
